Center Court’s Membership Mindset From Day One

With multiple locations that opened throughout the Greater Phoenix area in 2024, Center Court Pickleball Club has set out to be a premier indoor pickleball club with an exclusive community of avid players getting connected to one another. Center Court has locations opened in Gilbert, Glendale, and Scottsdale, Arizona.

Center Court locations are outfitted with lounge areas, workspaces with Wi-Fi, wellness areas with hydromassage and cryotherapy chairs, stretching zones, full-service locker rooms, and many more amenities. On the pickleball side of things, each of their courts are individually fenced with each location featuring a Center Court at the facility. Further, they have top-tier certified pros to help players advance their game through various clinics and programming as well as a pro shop with a demo program, allowing members to test out gear. Their hope is that these modern and high-quality club locations support their overall membership philosophy which has been carefully curated even prior to opening their doors.

Center Court operates on an exclusive membership structure, which distinguishes them from other pickleball clubs, offering innovative membership options to both bring more people through their doors and establish a healthy community culture. Their top priority is to “enhance the experience and satisfaction of [their] members,” says Jessica Wilcox, Center Court’s Director of Sales and Marketing. Through everything, Center Court strives to provide their members a comfortable environment for pickleball all the while fostering a strong sense of camaraderie within the club among members.

Practically speaking, Center Court offers two membership options for prospective members: an individual membership or a crew membership. The crew membership allows groups of up to four family members, partners, or friends to pay a lower rate than at the individual membership level. Further, members with the crew membership are able to add junior members to their crew for an even lower monthly rate as they work to embolden the next generation of pickleball players. They believe this approach “encourages and enables prospective members to join with a group they already enjoy playing pickleball with, fostering a sense of familiarity and belonging at [their] club.” Familiarity and belonging are two central pillars of the culture the team at Center Court is striving to create.

Since opening in 2024, Center Court is looking forward to soliciting feedback from their members on how they could better serve them and integrate them into the exclusive community. “Gathering feedback from [their] members…holds a pivotal role and [they] are committed to taking this input seriously,” comments Wilcox. In an effort to check in with members to know if they believe they are getting value for their membership, Center Court plans to conduct regular surveys among their members. They understand that as a new establishment, it is crucial for them to have a thorough pulse on their members’ perception of the club culture and how well the club is following through on their commitment to their values. Center Court is adamant about “actively listening to…feedback and striving to deliver the highest level of service to [their] valued members.”

In advance of the openings, Center Court has begun promoting their unique membership structure and has already received favorable feedback concerning the options and pricing. They are confident that their pricing is well-aligned with their “extensive range of amenities and offerings that will be available” for members to enjoy.

To further invest in the member experience, Center Court intends to offer a variety of upskilling resources and tools for members. Moreover, the leadership team at Center Court “[places] a strong emphasis on delivering an online experience that enables [their] members to effortlessly connect with fellow players of similar skill levels within the club” to ensure competitive pickleball play. They believe this will help facilitate engaging games, which is a top priority at the club as they strive to enhance the experience for members. In addition to facilitating high quality games, they believe connecting players of similar skill levels will make the “transition into the club an even more seamless and enriching experience.”

At the center of this exclusive club is a strong sense of community. Center Court has designed its membership philosophy with the intent that the club is a place “where members not only find a sense of belonging but also a place to relax and socialize, both on and off the court.” One feature they hope will intentionally facilitate community within the facility is the hydration wall, which was specifically designed to “promote social interactions among members, providing them with opportunities to connect and enjoy moments together.” The hydration wall will feature alcoholic beverages as well as other options, making the wall a prime spot for socialization and community within the club.

In an effort to keep members coming back to the club regularly, Center Court will offer a variety of activities and programming, to include lessons, leagues, tournaments, and clinics, which will serve to keep members actively engaged in their pickleball community. “These options [were] carefully crafted to enhance members’ skills” and elevate their game while “[fostering] a strong sense of belonging within [the] club.” Their aim is to offer well-rounded experiences for members that will cater to their diverse interests and skill sets.

As a club in its infancy, Center Court stands on their solid membership philosophy to create a welcoming environment for members to enjoy as they play pickleball with their community. Through their exclusive membership structure, they strive to cultivate a deep sense of connection for their members.
